  1. actually…..he is wrong about what a harmony is, a harmony is any pitch
other than the pitch of the melody….this is the reason that there is the
    terms dissonance and consonance

  2. He said he sung a 3rd above, basically follow the melody but in a different
interval above, major 3rd is the most commonly used but you can also use
    4ths and 5ths

  3. A third up or down from the original is simple to understand if you know
the notes on a piano 🙂 let’s say the original melody is (c d e) up a third
    would be (e f g) because e is 3 notes ahead of c (counting c as 1, d as 2
and e as the 3rd letter up) which means a 3rd above 😉 hope this helped

  4. XD XD the students face is so sullen when he’s singing but after you ask
him to harmonize you exclaim “Very good!!” And you can see an ever so faint
smile appear on his face and stay for a bit

  5. Thank you! !! I’ve been a vocalist for years but I struggle with harmony so
I’ve been trying to learn and you articulated it very well and I understood
for the first time thankyou. Some were telling me that I knew how to do it I
    just didn’t understand the concept.:0)
