Adele is one of the most well recognized, pop music singers in the world! Yes, she is a fantastic singer, but she also has a very unique sound so that when you hear one of her songs on the radio, you know it’s her! In this breakdown I’ve boiled it down to her top 4 vocal techniques she uses often and then I teach you how to do them so you can use them as well. The 4 vocal techniques are…
1. Vocal Twitch
2. Vowel Modification:
3. Vocal Placement:
4. Sing Through Break:
I touched on half-step vibrato in this video. What is it? Check it out here in the full video:
Links to Adele songs that use these techniques:
Hello –
Set Fire to the Rain –
To Make You Feel My Love –
When We Were Young –
Turning Tables –
Someone Like You –
If you still have questions after you watched this video and the additional videos that I provided links for, please ask them. I generally respond within 24 hours. I am here to help.
I would love your feedback. Is there anything I missed or you would like to add to the main list of 4 I describe in this video?

No problem… I am enjoying your channel and look forward to learning more from you.
wizkid2000 – I am so happy to hear that. Nothing makes me happier than to help singers and musicians grow, like yourself, in this online community.
Fantastic tutorial. You should start a whole series of these 😉
Anthony Lazaro – Hi Anthony. Thanks so much my man! I was definitely thinking along the same lines, depending on the feedback I get from this video. Thanks for watching and for your input! You have a great page as well. I just subbed!

Thank you so much 🙂 A couple of months ago I realized that the only way to really grow as a singer, exercises aside, is really obsessing with recreating the same exact sound that I hear: for example I noticed that Jack Johnson use some kind of vocal fry in the inset and there’s a lot of air going on 🙂 Sometimes is the resonance, sometimes are the vowel modification. All stuff you can then use in your own way, in your own covers. So, yeah, I think a “How to sing like” series would definitely catch a lot of interest and eyeballs. And I loved how you nailed down four fundamental techniques used by Adele 😉
Yes he does! Nice job. And I appreciate your feedback dude. Thank you for your support!
-Michael
I think it would be easier for me to kidnap Adele than to actually sing like her :/
Van Allen – ha!!!! She is fantastic. All we can do is imitate to the best of our abilities.
-Michael
Van Allen Lol same
Hey Michael, can you do sing Glee Cory Monteith’s I’ll Stand by you? It’s a nice tribute to Cory Monteith.
