Many singers simply launch into singing, wishing and hoping their voices will just sound great. And it’s quiet a hit and miss thing.

But what if you could consistently sound great?

What if there are essential tools that if every singer applied would help them to sound great every time they sang?

Well, I’m excited to announce my very first FREE short course release:

How to sing 101 – covering the essentials of what EVERY singer should know.

The video above is Part 1 : How to prepare your body and throat for great singing.

In summary,

1. Good preparation is essential for every singer in order to sound great.
2. There are two things we need to prepare to sing well
i) Our body
ii) Our throats
3. To prepare our body, we need to get rid of tension! Why? Because tense muscles absorb your sound! Which causes you to strain
4. To prepare our throats, we need to use some exercises to make sure we OPEN our throats, so that there is no restriction to the vocal cords

These are your first steps towards singing freely and sounding great.

See you next time for How to sing 101 – Part 2: How effective posture and breathing help you sing great!

I already know quite a lot about voice itself and some of the exercise are
familiar to me, but I love exploring new things and you’re great at
explaining. I often feel tense, so this video’s been really helpful for me,
thank you! Channel suscribed and I’m gonna check out your other videos, of
    course :)

  5. I’ve been binge watching your videos and other vocal coaches for the past
couple of days and I find that I get the concept of preparing your body
very well (i.e. Tension is bad, breathing from diaphragm). As my band
director says, tension is the enemy! Thank you for your videos you’re an
    amazing teacher!

  6. Kerri You’re amazing…
your videos are just the most complete and effective vocal tutorial videos
    I’ve ever seen…
You’re my one and only vocal coach
    Thanks alot ^_^

  7. these videos are great! i’m working with young singers on relaxation
techniques & i’m totally stealing some of these ideas for our workshops ^_^
simple enough for them to understand but oh so effective!

  8. Kerri, you are great! I think this is the only video that we need to sing
better in just a few days. I am practising the exercises in my car when I
am driving alone, and now I can sing more songs that were impossible for me
previously. Thank you so much, Kerri. You are a gifted vocal coach!.

  9. (We even tell you how many frets to capo up on your guitar to play along.) We have tried where possible to also identify some of the most important or easiest to learn from recordings by other artists.

  10. Because I don’t hear pitch very well, I kind of had to learn the contour of a song and then get some sort of muscle memory to get me close to the right notes.
