First practical singing lesson

The first thing to do before you start to learn to sing. Find out which vocal ‘instrument’ you are. What is your voice type?
Here I explain the basics of finding your voice type and why you need to know.

    Hi Georg,
Ruby is 11 and a soprano.
Hugh is 13 between soprano and mezzo soprano. For e.g. he can still sing where is love and giants in the sky!
They are coming along for the ride!
I might sneakily join in – I think I’m a messo soprano. Looking forward to next lesson x

    1. Hi Hayley,
๐Ÿ˜‚ Great!! 3 students in one go! Your son has a special voice type – the treble voice. All young boys are trebles until their voice start to change at which point they become a little known voice type which has been labelled ‘cambiato’ or changing voice…. and then of course their voices change to a young adult male voice. The mezzo soprano voice is rare. I would guess that you are a soprano voice type but as you’ll see as the videos go on voice type is just one small but important part of deciding which songs are best for you!
      Thanks for subscribing.
      Best wishes,

  2. Hi georg you looked and sound great on the show. Shame I didn’t get the call back ! But I expected not too . I have sign up ,looking forward to your lessons.

  3. Iโ€™m not really sure if Iโ€™m a mezzo soprano or a lyric soprano. I totally love singing and I try to sing on my channel sometimes. I suppose that if you click on it, youโ€™ll see my โ€œchannel trailerโ€ where I try to sing the songs of some of my favorite Disney princesses.
I would really love to expand my voice because I feel like I donโ€™t use my diaphragm enough but right now i just canโ€™t afford singing lessons so Iโ€™m really grateful youโ€™re doing this channel, sharing singing tips for free. Iโ€™ll be sure to continue watching your videos – subscribed and clicked the notifications bell ๐Ÿ˜Š Thank you.

    1. Hi MeggieRei,
      Thanks for subscribing!
I enjoyed your disney songs! ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ‘๐ŸŽคโค
You are a Soprano. At the moment being young you should concentrate on lyrical Soprano songs. The disney songs are perfect. Do you also like Musical Theatre?
Have a listen to the song:
‘Somethings are mean’t to be’ from the musical Little Women. It will be an excellent choice for your voice. Challenging but correct for your voice type. Georg x

    2. Georg Tormann, thank you for watching my video, it really means a lot ๐Ÿ™ˆ Musicals in general are a passion of mine since I was little. I actually tried to sing the songs from Grease in one of my other videos. I listened to the song from โ€œLittle Womenโ€ (I actually love the book but I have never known that there was a musical) and I will definitely give it a try. I would really love to try to become a better singer. Thank you for your feedback, youโ€™re really sweet ๐Ÿ˜Š

Hi Haydn! Welcome to the singing classes! ๐Ÿ™‚ …. you will be like the von trapp family if you keep this up! The hills are alive…..with the sound of music. Marvellous! ๐Ÿ™‚
      New video coming soon. ๐Ÿ™‚

Hi, I understand what you mean about the high and low difficulty. There are 2 main zones in all female voices. The low zone( sometimes referred to as chest voice) and the high zone (sometimes referred to as head voice) Mezzo Sopranos and Sopranos both have these 2 zones and both have the trouble you are referring 2. The next lesson will help you understand how to deal with that problem. We’re recording it tomorrow night so watch out for a new video being posted within the next day or so. ๐Ÿ™‚ x

  4. Hey.
Iโ€™m a light baritone male voice but I stylistically change it up for my commercial career. Got some videos on my channel if your interested.
At the moment Iโ€™m trying to build vocal stamina for touring. Any tips?
Great channel so far bud ๐Ÿ˜Š
    Thanks ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ

      Hi Luchi,
I had a listen to ‘coming home’ and ‘unlove u’. Great sound mate! I do have some pointers that may help you with your stamina. Video for that will be next on the list. ๐Ÿ‘๐ŸŽค
      Best wishes, Georg
