  1. Always funny and very informative man – these type of videos could help a lot of people. Well said. The only things I do for “tension” is stretching and massaging a bit when certain areas feel tense – and that only takes a few minutes or even seconds. It doesn’t create coordination – it can help make it easier but that’s it – I think a lot of people want to think of singing topics as “finding the magical topic” in other words finding the topic that is supposed to work the most – when really is a combination of everything to a certain extent – I blame the teachers here on yt who make “no tension” sound like “sing like a God” or “this is the magic key” – and then usually you hear them singing and they sound average which is funny. Stupid clickbait titles that just confuse people. New students are especially vulnerable to this because they WANT to believe it. They want the easy path – they’re an easy target. And such “coaches” know it and take advantage of it.

  3. I actually had an issue with my tongue because I was sounding “woofy” when I sing. It was mainly because I had my tongue at the back of my throat.

  4. Through my experience I’ve learned that it’s not me singing too hight- it’s the tension! Tension’s the real bitch here! I mean I know the note I’m about to sing is there (talking about the passagio area) I just can’t execute it right. Right?
    Since I stopped the tension and started singing notes I’ve been having problem with queitly with more falsetto’ish-mixed balance now I can sing em with chesty sounding mix (here comes the term again haha) not being forced to lowed the dynamics. Is that the chest/head balance everyone’s talking about? Or did by doing so my chest voice just grow bigger and I can control it better?

  5. i feel like my voice is fucked up,i have a hole in my bridge area between my head voice & whistle voice the whistle range is comfortable & the majority of my head voice is to,its just the inbetween notes from A5 to D6 are so hard to sing everything else is cake & i can even bring my whistle range off the high end of the piano.but i don’t know how to fix my bridge area i wounder if i have nodules.

  6. There is a good chance to get chest voice higher without straining too much. When you ‘ve finished your warm up phase, try the following technique: Keep the air for high notes at an absolute minimum, meaning breathe out in a relaxed way before hitting the note, hold your breath and imagine singing it down in the exact same way you’re actually going to sing it up (pitch-wise) at the same time. Try to sing high notes in chest voice as quiet as you can when first practicing them, when you feel you have to scream stop before you’re hurting yourself (or anyone else’s ears for that matter). Use the amount of air that’s left when breathing out without squeezing out the rest and control it by making sure you have just enough. When you feel like it’s too much, breathe out a little more… if you get dizzy stop. In the very last moment before making the sound, decide if you should really do chest or mixed, to make this decision as intuitive as possible. Even if it comes out falsetto it will sound clear and not uncomfortably breathy because the amount of air can’t put too much pressure on the folds if you do it right. I feel like when breath control really works, everything else is quite secondary, at least for me and I think also most other “normal” singers without any other more individual issues. Try it out and tell me what you think, that would be awesome… 😉
