This video is an example from my #1 Best Seller “The Voice Factor – From Shower To Stage in 5 Easy Steps” Recording yourself is optional to check back how you went!

Step 1:
Count a slow and steady pulse from one to four internally in your head, and keep repeating: 1.. 2.. 3.. 4.. 1.. 2.. 3.. 4.. and so on. Internally is the key word here, and for the purpose of this exercise means not using your voice or any other part of your body in any way to count unless specified. What you are doing here is disciplining yourself to create a steady pulse of four beats internally and looping it.

Step 2:
Once you have the steady pulse, I want you to replace the first internal beat with the word “Eggs” which I want you to say out aloud. If not, slow the pulse down to where you are able to achieve it.

So, you should now have a rhythm pattern of : “Eggs” “Eggs”.. 2.. 3.. 4.. “Eggs” .. 2.. 3.. 4.. and so on where the only word that you should be saying aloud is “Eggs”, because you know why now.

Don’t cheat now by mouthing the counts in between, if you feel tempted to do that go back to Step 2.

Remember to keep the internal pulse going and wait for the next downbeat to come along if you make a mistake.

Step 3:
Once you’ve got a nice, confident rhythm happening on the downbeat with your “Eggs”, add your clicks (or claps) on the “2” and the “4”.

You should now have “Eggs”.. click … “3”… click “Eggs”.. click … “3”… click … and so on, making sure that the “3” is not spoken as it is counted internally.

Step 4:
The final step is to add some additional Rhythm Lyrics for you to say aloud in addition to the click rhythm you have going.

Now the lyrics will be, “Eggs and Ham”, and because there are only three syllables in this phrase, you are going to hold the syllable of “Ham” over beats “3” & “4”. If you knew that already, then congratulations, you are a ‘clever clogs’ and your Rhythm Machine is in fine working order!

So let’s put that together: The pattern now being: “Eggs” .. “And” .. “Ha”.. “M” .. “Eggs” .. “And” .. “Ha”.. “M” .

Don’t forget, you should still be clicking on the 2nd and 4th beats which fall directly as you say the syllable of “And” and “M”.

Now it’s your turn to try with the video.

If you found this video super simple, try the other videos I have in this playlist:)
