contemporary singing is loud as fuck. It is physiologically impossible to produce pitches in your call register without going somewhat loud or resorting to falsetto. And plus, they all have tension, these people who say that good singers have no tension at all even when belting, are nuts.

This gives me a chance to post this, I just love how you can hear her resonance so clear in the room and it covers everything you mentioned, it’s a quiet video so turn it up

Cool vid. Your Forum address doesn’t work though? Is loony Lunte still camping on it?

Loving these analysis videos – being louder was one of the things that got me improving much more consistently once I found out – found out from Phil and Marnell here on YouTube. I commented a similar thing on one of your past videos. Love that you are reinforcing and emphasizing how important and relevant it is. Videos like this could help a lot of people.

Just one thing: You do realize that that Justin Bieber clip is processed, do you? That’s not a 1:1 representation of the room- / camera-mic at all. That’s pretty similar to what they do in casting shows when they want to make some singers appear better than others. Listen closely. The guitar is way too balanced too.

DUDE THAT IS LOUD AS FUCK HAHA

Yeah I started Singing LOUD and I’m becoming better all the time

  7. I was thinking about this the other day, and I watched a video of blues/rock singer Paul Rodgers (and Joe Bonamassa) and he is really loud. Like his arm is not long enough to hold his microphone away from his mouth:

You can always claim that it’s not terribly contemporary since it’s from 2015 and Rodger’s prime was in the 60’s, but still

for fuck sake…I’m gonna listen to some Miles Davis. I hate all singing.
